PROJECT
Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts
DESCRIPTION
This project required 89,000 square feet of architectural precast concrete with an acid-etch finish. The design team paid close attention to adjacent historic buildings, extensively sampling tone and finishes to complement the traditional existing with this newer, more modern structure.
Complex panels with little repetition were used with a combination of insulated panels and solid panels. Large 8’-0” x 12’-0” panels were incorporated on the side walls to achieve a monumental and robust scale. Curved shaped pieces were shipped to the jobsite on specially-made racks to avoid damage.
