UMKC Henry W Bloch Executive Hall of Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Description
This project for the Bloch School of Business is the first of its kind in the United States. Terracotta tile was clad into 19,200 square feet of large insulated composite precast concrete sandwich panels, providing a complete wall system. This yielded notable cost savings over the traditional rain screen wall framing system (as the project was originally envisioned), but maintained the same appearance. A five color, random blend tile pattern was installed in the precast production facility and the precast itself provided an excellent rain barrier. Extensive coordination between the architect, contractor and precaster yielded impressive end results.
